The United States Army uses many different kinds of communication equipment. This equipment is necessary to make sure that all of the data and information necessary to run operations and missions is available at all times. There are many people who are hired and trained in order to maintain and operate the microwave systems which are used in order to send and receive information from other locations.
Training for Your Position
In order to be able to provide the communication your unit will need, you will have to go through basic training like all other personnel. This is because you will be operating in combat situations and you will need to understand how to protect yourself and your position. After basic training, you will go through 20 weeks of advanced training where you will learn the specialized skills for your position.
Because you will be working in a highly technical field, you will need to have at least an associate certified electronics technician certificate. This will be provided through the educational and training opportunities which are available to you in the United States Army. You will be able to fulfill this requirement while you are working in a different position in the Army or through the educational programs available in ROTC Programs.
