Ground transportation is not always the best way to transport troops and supplies. At these times it is necessary to use such things as helicopters. In the United States Army, it is necessary to have some of the most skilled pilots available to fly the helicopters which will be used to transport troops, cargo and supplies. You will also be responsible for providing ground support and performing reconnaissance missions depending on what you specialty is and what you fly.
What You Will Fly
There are four main helicopters flown by the US Army: AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook, OH-58 Kiowa and the UH-60 Black Hawk. While there are some who have the ability to fly any and all helicopters, when you are taught to fly, you will concentrate solely on helicopter you will fly. This allows you to become an expert no what you are flying every day. You will be able to provide the best flight for any mission or training exercise as the case may be.
Skill You Should Have
Being successful as an Army aviation officer makes it necessary for you to have certain skills. You should above all else be in good shape. You should also be eligible for officer training.
