So much of what the United States Army does is in foreign lands. This includes everything from waging war, settling conflicts to promoting peace in a region. This is only possible when you can communicate properly with those in the region. It is important to make sure that there are at least a few people in the area which will be able to talk with the local population as well as the local government to make sure there are no misunderstandings.

Variety of Assignments

Part of what you will be doing is to interpret what is being said by foreign diplomats when talking with American elected officials when trying to negotiate peace or to maintain it. You will also help to translate information as it pertains to the intelligence segment. This includes things which are in the local media as well as propaganda which has been posted throughout the area. This will help you to maintain dominance for the American forces in the region.

Languages in Need

There are always a variety of assignments which are available for those with language skills. While it is possible to learn one of the in demand languages, it helps if you are someone who is either from the region or has an intimate understanding of the language.
