In the opinion of many, there is little which is more secure than metal. This is why the United States Army uses many different kinds of metal for many different kinds of applications. The use of the metal will depend on how it is being used as well as how long it is intended to be there. It takes a skilled laborer to make sure that the metal will be properly installed and that it will be able to do its job. This is the job of the metal worker in the US Army.

Saving Lives

When the first wave of HumVees were deployed to the middle east, they were not ready for the roadside bombs which were very popular among the insurgents. As a result the vehicles had to be retrofitted with better armor plating. It took some time to get the additions to the troops. In the meantime the metalworkers on hand were able to improvise metal armor shields which they could add to the frame and protect the soldiers.
