Benefits of Being a Radio Operator Maintainer

The United States Army operates throughout the world in a variety of different scenarios. It is not always easy to complete the missions which troops are asked to do. It takes a lot of planning and a lot of good communication. The communication is important to be able to coordinate attacks and relay necessary information including changes to the mission plan. This is why it is imperative that the radios are operated and maintained properly at all times.

The Training You Will Receive

In order to be considered for the position you will need to have at least two years of experience working in electronics. This way when you get started with your training in the Army you will know what you are doing. You will also need to already have an associate certified electronics technician certification. If you do, you will go through thirteen weeks of advanced training in order to learn the communications systems in the Army so that you can properly operate and maintain them.

The Work You Will Do

You will work in the command post as well as in the field to make sure that the radios are being used and maintained properly at all times. You will be responsible for maintaining the radio when not in use and making repairs whenever a problem might arise.
