Benefits of Being in the Army Reserves

There are many different ways you can be a soldier in the United States Army. Many every year choose to join as a part of the Army Reserves. Those still contemplating where their place in the US Army is will wonder why they might want to join in the United States Army Reserves. The things to consider is what your commitment is and what you will be able to get out of the deal.

Reserves Commitment

When you are a soldier in the United States Army Reserves you will be responsible to go through the regular boot camp every personnel member goes through. Once you have completed boot camp, you will have options on how you will finish your advanced training for your position. Regardless of this training, you will still be expected to commit two weekends a month and one week a year to training and preparedness exercises. Generally you will commit to a four year tour with the Army.

Benefits of the Reserves

You will get many of the same benefits you get while in Active Duty. The difference being that you will not get paid as much and you will have to pay a little bit to get the full comprehensive medical and dental benefits when not in active duty or going through training exercises.
