Important Job as an Armor Officer

The United States Army has some of the most feared vehicles on the battlefield. Part of what makes the units so feared is because they are near impossible to destroy. This is because of the heavy armor which is loaded onto each of the vehicles. It is of the utmost importance that the tank division which is so feared has the right kind of leadership to be able to lead units into battle and make sure to create a superior position as quickly as possible.

Getting the Job

In order to work in this position, you will likely be promoted into it from other tank division jobs. Whether you go through promotion or enlist directly from ROTC and other programs, you will have to go through a Scout Leaders Course and a Cavalry Leaders Course. Additionally, you will have to go through Armor Officer Basic Course. All of this training will help to make sure you know exactly what you are doing on the battlefield.

The Job You Will Do

When you work as an armor officer in the US Army, you will be expected to work in reconnaissance. This is so that you will be able to know exactly where the location of the opposition is.
